A wintertraining (supplement)

Supplement to A wintertraining

The double-line between start and finish resembles 'average comfort'. The y-axis resembles LIFE, the x-axis PROGRESS.

Snow training goes trough four phases. The curve reflects the perception of WELLBEING, FUN, JOY.

a) Initially descending towards 0 trough the first SUCK stage;

b) STABILISING in phase 2;

c) Ascending trough phase 3 (flowstate 1);

d) Rising towards flow state 2.

Dissolve

In general, the first five minutes suck.

Food

Simple, home cooked meal on the knee after training. Beetle root, garlic, spinach, tofu, red pepper, avacado and ginger.

Two people, I both had the honour to portray in a film, about food.

"Food should be something to chew on."

Peter de Bie,
retired criminal who served 6 years in prison and now owns a beach restaurant

"Hydrate and fuel within 30 minutes."

Mark Divine,
retired Navy Seal commander who set up 'Seal Fit'

The three S's

Today.

Before- and ready for night training. What a Dutch footballcoach would call the three S's: Short, dark and sweet and langzaam. Long enough to experience the full flow chart. Trough the hills towards the sea and back. Always it is that 'back' that does the trick (in building strength and clarity). You can not quit. Whereas on a treadmill: what's at stake apart from merely being a repetition of rat race itself?

A wintertraining

Kennemer Dunes 20 K. today.

Snow training:

Phase 1: Suck phase. The first minutes suck;

Phase 2: Stabilisation phase. Things don't get any worse;

Phase 3: Warmth comes back. First flow (Flow 1);

Phase 4: Unity. Flow 2
