From the transcript, Jeremy Corbyn: "So whilst on one level we’re talking about a series of policy issues, mental health, housing, health, education, war and peace, environment and so on, it’s also about a level of consciousness and understanding and while social media is a great way of instantly and rapidly communicating with people, it often can be superficial and cannot go into the sort of life experiences that we’re talking about here that help to form our opinions. And so I’m not quite sure how it can be done, but let’s work out ways of doing it, because I want this sort of thing to carry on, I’m sure you all, I hope you all do as well."

"I" am as good as my team

My Moroccan crew in the Sahara-desert. Picking the right people is essential. It may be "you" or "me" or "I" who got the call; without a unified team behind that to clear it, the results will turn out flat, pale, uninteresting and disappointing. A symptom of  the "look what a clever filmmaker I am" syndrome. This probably counts for other professions as well; even leading to endangering other people's health and other people's lives.

Conclusion: Like a brand, which may be the vision of one person -- "I" --, its strength is determined by the team behind it. "I" is "I Care" ; characterized by the ability to switch and unite, flexibilty. From the inside to the outside, on the battlefield of the (not so) free market, doing the job that needs to be done; for the sake of the team really... Outside the team, there is nothing.

Being 'up-to-speed' gives a sense of tremendous latitude. When winter-training starts (in the summer) the feeling is 'pretty bad'. Out of shape. Easily exhausted and out of breath. By building it up, we develop gradually (the summer is an excellent time for that). As a result, by the time it gets colder, our breath lasts longer and the space opens up with excellent training possibilities -- which we are able to reach and catch. Trough control over our breathing. And an awareness of our heart beating. Deep breath; as long as we are able to keep finding that, under the most severe training-conditions, then we're doing good.

Thank you Marion, Jack, Jacky and Flint for the kindhearted, gentle hospitality in your Italian beach-restaurant "Azzurro" in Zandvoort this summer.

"Personal shadow is the bridge to [...] mass psychoses"

Define [ make a stand ]

"The personal shadow is the personal shortcomings of things which every human being could be conscious of which is not archetypal. For instance, such things as greed for money or jealousy, inferiorities which everybody has but prefers not to know about. If one is jealous or if one is suddenly possessed by wanting money [...] one could know about it if one is honest with oneself. But the collective shadow has to do with the dark side of the archetype of the Self, that means, [it] is the shadow of the God image. In the Christian tradition, it would be the devil. And that has always been personified and felt as something which has not [...] directly [ to do ] with the human being. [I]f somebody is possessed by the devil, he is much worse [...] he is not human. It's demonic. [B]ut [...] generally that merges. First you have this area, of dim, dark side, and behind it lurks the other. I've [...] seen that, when Germany went to the devil in Nazism, people fell into it through their personal shadow. For instance, they didn't want to lose their job because they were clinging to money. That was their personal shadow. But then they joined in with the Nazi movement for that reason and did much worse things than they would have done normally under normal social conditions. So you can say the personal shadow is the bridge to the collective shadow or the open door to the collective shadow. But the collective shadow comes up in those terrible mass psychoses. It's like if you have your room, and there is one door not shut, and there the devil can come in. And if you know your personal shadow, you can shut all the doors."

Navel of the World

At the approx. geographical center of my long-time barefoot-training parkour, presenting a flm-installation displaying the tumultuous life and times of Beach-Inn restaurant owner Peter de Bie. The film was shot in his beach restaurant in 2007 on Kodak Vision 3 filmstock (5219 and 7219); both the film and the restaurant came a long way before they finally united for this celebration with a live interview. It took place in the construction --  rebuilt from scratch, using heavy 18th century wood from Amsterdam  -- by carpenter Peer and his team. Photo: Rob van Wieringen, Haarlems Dagblad/IJmuider Courant, reproduced with permission
